About Corinne Stevens
Corinne Stevens is of mixed Aboriginal and European ancestry. She is married and has many pets. She is actively involved in the Native culture. She has completed her Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy as well as her Bachelor of Arts Degree at the University of Winnipeg.

Corinne had worked in the social services field providing counselling to individuals for more than 10 years. She got frustrated with only being able to address surface issues as a counsellor. She was convinced that for lasting change to occur for the people she worked with, that she needed to acquire advanced clinical therapy skills/knowledge. This would allow her to work with deeper issues and with more than just individuals. It is often in those relationships with others that additional challenges reveal themselves and with awareness people can make different choices. This is why working with couples, families, and groups (larger social systems) can be very helpful.

Corinne utilizes more than Western psychotherapy frameworks and methodologies. She also uses a holistic philosophy towards healing. She believes it is important to work with the whole of the person and their connections to the spiritual, physical, emotional, and mental aspects of themselves. She views herself as a helper who walks alongside the people she works with in therapy. She believes in the infinite possibility for people to live the kind of life that deep in their heart they aspire to.

Corinne Stevens belongs to several professional organizations, including the American Association of Marriage & Family Therapists, Manitoba Association of Marriage & Family Therapists, Native Mental Health Association of Canada, Hospice & Palliative Care Manitoba and International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation.
